The name “Il Bistrò dei Dotti” comes from a careful and scrupulous study of the Dominican Order, to which the splendid church you can admire in this small square in the historic center of Nardò is dedicated.
At the height of their expansion, the Dominicans were considered the “learned ones” par excellence, because through a rigorous personal journey, living in poverty and relying on alms, they devoted much of their time to strengthening their cultural preparation through theological and biblical studies, becoming great preachers through teaching and printing.

And this is exactly what we try to do: to immerse ourselves completely in cooking, in the study of new ingredients, combining them with tradition, and sharing with you the results of all this research.

Il Bistrò dei Dotti was born in November 2019, and our goal is to combine tradition with today’s innovations. We want to give ever greater importance to the products of our land — even the lesser-known ones — to bring them to life and flavor in our dishes.
Always fresh products, carefully selected and prepared with the same dedication. We have chosen to work with seasonal ingredients, to highlight their flavors at the peak of their quality.
